CLINT ROSCOE

I love making art and have fun while I'm doing it.

About

Clint Gene Roscoe was born in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, USA on August 5th, 1980. He grew up with his parents in Minneapolis, Minnesota until he was 15 years old. He moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with his sister to attend high school. He had some interest in visual art throughout his adolescent years. He graduated high school from The Collegiate at the University of Winnipeg in 1998.

So far, he has been in eleven group exhibitions and six solo exhibitions in Winnipeg. He had six months of studio space and mentoring at Artbeat Studio in 2010. After reading a few books suggesting that he should make art consistently, he started making art as much as he could. One book in particular was called Art / Work. The other was Rework.

Roscoe went to Red River College for a graphic design class in 2003 and was introduced to drawing realistically. He bought a book called Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. He went to university three times. His third time, he had the intent on majoring in philosophy. He took a course in art history and was fascinated in the Impressionists and Vincent Van Gogh among other artists. There, he felt that he wanted to be an artist, but he still wasn’t serious. He did start drawing more and dabbled in painting. He went to sketch nights at the cre8ery in 2007/2008.

He began suffering from schizophrenia and couldn’t finish university. Over a two-year period (2008-2010), he was in and out of hospitals. During that time, he didn’t really make any art or wasn’t able to do much at all. After he started taking his medication on a regular basis, he slowly began producing visual art. In 2012, he published his diaries, which he called From Yearning to Madness.

Roscoe paints with watercolour crayons, draws with markers, paints on canvas, makes linocut prints and uses other media on occasion. He hopes to have many more art shows in the future.

Clint also enjoys being a Winnipeg artist very much. He would like more people to be aware of him and his art, so tell your friends about him.
