CLINT ROSCOE

I love making art and have fun while I'm doing it.

Artist Statement

I started drawing with markers. Will add more about this later.

I started painting with watercolour in 2011 while I was living in the small town of Ashern. I’m pretty much self-taught. Shirley Trevena, who is a UK artist is where I get a lot of my inspiration from. I break rules and sometimes I go with them. Trevena likes painting still life, and so do I, but I like to explore other subject matter like portraits.

I’ve been painting abstracts for a while, but have really been trying to see what it’s all about within the past two years. I don’t always have access to canvas, so I go back to watercolour. My abstracts are usually from pure abstraction and usually do not represent anything in the real world.

I tend to put my handwriting style into my paintings. I went to the Manitoba Archives in my late 20’s and learned 19th century handwriting. It’s something that I’m very pleased with.

I tend to go to the library for inspiration and to get new ideas. My style is starting to change since I moved back to Winnipeg.
